Effigy
Bytes - Century Collapsing
Effigy
have forecast the future of pop in the new millennium, with their new album "Century
Collapsing".
Effigy have closed their make-up bags - leaving behind the cryptic, bittersweet
opulence of their self titled debut - and progressed into a more musically investigative
of their personality.
This is typified by their first single from 'Century Collapsing' - 'Suspicion
Bells'. As a open ended pop tune laced with harmonica melodies, acoustic guitars
and Peter Hardman's charismatic vocals, 'Suspicion Bells' is a good example of
some of the different styles Effigy have confidently presented with their second
studio release.
Produced by Kalju Tonuma, (Mavis' Pink Pills) with co-production by Pete Hardman
(effigy singer/songwriter/guitarist) ' Century Collapsing' is a classy, full bodied
collection of infectious melodies, Reflecting a moving scale of moods, each track
possesses it's own level of integrity and imagination with dramatic tunes like
'Rose Thorns' and 'The Singer' respectfully balanced by the energised rock of
'Caught' of the delicious 50's pop swing of 'Misfits'.
